[fs.usda.gov] Rarity, Habitat: Streptanthus cordatus var. piutensis, heartleaf twistflower, Piute Mountains jewelflower Endemic to California, this jewelflower is known from approximately ten occurrences in Kern County. This plant prefers rocky openings on red clay soil. Surrounding vegetation may be chaparral, juniper/cypress woodland, pinyon, or canyon live oak. (contributed by Mary Ann Machi)
