[explorer.natureserve.org] Limited Range, Threats: Restricted to coastal southern California and adjacent Baja California, Mexico. Thought to be extirpated from about half its historic range and currently known from fewer than 20 patchily distributed occurrences. The species' dune habitat faces ongoing threats from off-road vehicle use, foot traffic, invasive non-native plants, and development. (link added by Mary Ann Machi)
