[selinawamucii.com] Description; Uses & Benefits; Flowers, Seeds, Seedlings: Description Cryptantha hispidissima (also called Very Bristly Cryptantha, among many other common names) is a small annual herb that grows up to 10 cm tall. It has small, white flowers with a yellow center. It is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, and is found in dry, sandy soils in desert scrub and grassland habitats. Uses & Benefits Cryptantha hispidissima is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a ground cover. It is drought-tolerant and can be used to control erosion on slopes. Flower, Seeds and Seedlings Cryptantha hispidissima has small white flowers with five petals and five sepals. The seeds are small, round and black in color. The seedlings are small and have a single pair of cotyledons. (contributed by Mary Ann Machi)
