Updated September 25, 2020

The Hour and Herbicide Distributor (HHD) application addresses the following situation: a crew goes out, and in a single day, treats many weed infestations. They make a record of each treatment. Instead of recording the number of person hours spent on each treatment in the field, they use this application after the fact to divide up the total number of hours across all of their treatment records.

If the treatments utilize herbicide, and the crew mixed up a single batch of herbicide which they used all day long for multiple treatments, then they can also use this application to assign a portion of that herbicide mixture to each treatment.

If you have any questions about this application, please contact Calflora support.

Search

Start by entering the date that the work happened in the On Date field, in the format YYYY-MM-DD (February 20, 2019 is written as 2019-2-20).

Open From Organization(s) to choose a Weed Manager organization and a project. You can choose more than one organization, and for each organization, more than one project.

Note that each project may have its own form, and that this application works with a single Weed Manager form. Once you have chosen organizations and projects, the application determines which project form to use. If you chose a single project, or more than one project that uses exactly the same form, then there is no choice: the application knows to use that form. However, if there is more than one form involved with your choice of organizations and projects, you will need to choose one of the forms to continue. In this case, the various project forms appear in the Project Form drop down.

These additional search criteria are available. All are optional.

Only Treatment Return only those records that concern treatment.
Only Herbicide Return only those records that concern herbicide treatment.
Taxon Return only those records that concern the chosen plant. This field is typeahead enabled. Note that if you do not enter a plant name, all records that meet the other criteria will be returned.

You can search for more than one plant by including several scientific plant names separated by commas. For instance, if the field contains

Clematis vitalba,Hedera helix

then the results may include records for both of these plants.

The criteria below only appear if the selected form has these fields.
Product 1 % The percent of the first herbicide.
Product 1 The name of the first herbicide.
Chemical Method eg. Foliar spray
Note that this application will display both published and unpublished records.

Results

The results appear in a table below. When you click on the ID of a record, a menu appears with these actions: DETAIL, edit, and remove. Click edit to view the record in the Plant Observation Entry application. Click remove to remove the record from the table. Once a record is removed, it will not be included in the hour or herbicide distribution.

The remove function makes this search strategy possible: Instead of trying to search for exacly those records that need to have hours or herbicide assigned to them, you can search for a wider set of records, and then just eliminate those that do not belong.

Once you have the records you want in the result table, press Calculate Percents:

The Infested Area column is filled in if necessary. Infested Area is calculated in square meters as Gross Area times Percent Cover.

The % of Total column is filled in. % of Total is calculated as follows: First, all infested areas for each record in the table are summed. Then, % of Total for one record is set to the infested area of that record divided by the sum of all infested areas.

Entering Hours

Once you have the records you want in the result table, open Hour Entry to assign hours to each of those records.

In the Hour Entry panel, the values for Crew and Role come from the selected form, if possible. For Crew you can choose from the drop down, or type in a name.

Enter the Total Person Hours; this is the number that will be divided between the treatment records in the table. It represents the sum of all of the hours put in by all of the people in the chosen crew.

Enter the Number of People; this number will be copied to each generated Work Session record.

Press . The generated Work Session records appear in a popup. The Reference column contains the original treatment record number.

  • For forms that use the
Solution Amount + Percent of Each Chemical method:
Hours generation can only apply to records that have values for both Gross Area and Percent Cover. If a record does not have both of these values, it will be omitted from the calculation.
  • For forms that use the
Solution Amount + Concentrated Amount of Each Chemical method:
Hours generation can only apply to records that have a value for Infested Area. If a record does not have this value, it will be omitted from the calculation.

Person Hours are shown in decimal hours, where 5 minutes appears as 0.0833, and 6 minutes appears as 0.1. To specify a minimum number of minutes per record, check Minimum minutes per record and enter the number of minutes.

If the generated Work Session records look good, press .

After saving, press the Session Entry link to view the Work Session records that were just generated and saved.

  • Entering Herbicide

Once you have the records you want in the result table, open Herbicide Entry to assign herbicide to each of those records.

Enter Solution Amount. This number will be divided between the treatment records in the search results.

Enter one or more chemicals. The selection of chemicals comes from the selected form (Product 1, Product 2, etc.).

This application works with two different ways of tracking chemicals:

    • For forms that use the Solution Amount + Percent of Each Chemical method, enter the percent of the total solution for each chemical.

    • For forms that use the Solution Amount + Concentrated Amount of Each Chemical method, enter the concentrated amount of each chemical. The concentrated amount of each chemical will be divided between the treatment records in the search results.
All of the values you enter will be written to each treatment record.

Press . The generated solution amount values appear in a popup.

If the solution amounts look good, press . The values you entered here will overwrite any other chemical values on those records.
