Calflora - Why Registration?

Calflora provides information on wild California plants for conservation, education, and appreciation.

Calflora requires users to register so we can better understand how the web site is being used. We will keep all information about you strictly private.

Why annual fees?

Calflora is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to making data more freely available -- particularly "public" data from state and federally funded herbaria, agencies, and other sources. However, collecting and distributing this data in the consistent format that thousands of Calflora users have found valuable costs money: hosting fees, engineering, software.

Requiring a subscription fee from users is only a part of our efforts to maintain this service. We actively seek additional funding from public and private agencies, environmental organizations, as well as larger donations from users.
