Cardaria pubescens, a dicot, is a perennial herb that is not native to California; it was introduced from elsewhere and naturalized in the wild.

The California Invasive Plant Council (Cal-IPC) classifies the potential impact of Cardaria pubescens on native ecosystems as limited (plant profile).

Cardaria pubescens is also classified by the California Department of Food and Agriculture as a Noxious Weed List B: Control required in nurseries, control elsewhere at the discretion of local County Agricultural Commissioner. [CDFA Weeds 2010]
